As part of the campaign Virgin Blue has created a new website (www.virginblue.com.au/business) and EventConnect.com.au has been selected as a site sponsor and invited to be one of only two products featured in their new business toolbox at launch.

The website will give visitors information on everything they need to know about Virgin Blue’s offerings for the business traveller, and tips and advice on issues relating to business travel.

Virgin Blue chief commercial officer, Stefan Pichler says, “This is the right campaign at the right time and it perfectly supports Virgin Blue’s commercial strategy.
“We are making very good progress in all corporate and government markets and we see an increase in their commitment to us everyday,” he said.

The new campaign will raise awareness and create trust in Virgin Blue’s corporate product suite and encourage more people and companies to get into business with Virgin Blue.

Managing director of EventConnect.com.au, Steve Coombes, said the new relationship between Virgin Blue and EventConnect.com.au has the potential for those listed on the website to be exposed to more than 500,000 people over the next two month period which was very exciting for the company.
“As part of the new partnership we will be working together to encourage event planners to contact Virgin Blue’s new MICE /groups department which offers the flexibility needed for our industry,” he said.

Professional conference organiser Tour Hosts was excited to provide language services to the Earth Dialogues held in Brisbane City Hall as part of the Brisbane Festival from July 21 to 24.

The conference was a World Forum for Resource Management and Sustainable Development and was chaired by former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev and the Hon Peter Beattie MP, Premier of Queensland.

With so many important world experts on sustainable development and peace present, including Professor Aldolfo Perez from Argentina who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1980, the need for interpreting services was crucial. Tour Hosts provided simultaneous interpreting for all conference sessions and press conferences. They also provided two personal Russian translators to work directly with Mr Gorbachev.

Mr Gorbachev struck up a strong working relationship with Chinese born Dr Yvonne Hu, who manages Tour Hosts Conference Interpreter Services. Dr Hu was born in Shanghai and moved to Australia over 20 years ago and Mikhail found her story fascinating.
“Mikhail told me he liked Shanghai, the modern cosmopolitan city and that Sydney was a well chosen place to live in,” Dr Hu said.
“We both thought it fun that a Chinese living now in Sydney should be appointed to look after his interpreting needs for Russian in Brisbane! My mix of cultures in skills came in handy though as I recommended a great Chinese restaurant in Brisbane’s Chinatown which was enjoyed by the Russian contingent.”
