The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has credited Australia with a significant boost in Thai business events performance with visitor numbers from Australia up 137 per cent over last financial year.

TCEB President, Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, told media at AIME that Australia was now Thailand’s sixth largest inbound market with almost 38,000 business events travellers worth AUD116.76 million to the Thai economy. It had a total 900,000 business events visitors worth AUD 2.69 billion last year and expects to boost that to 1.03 million generating revenue of AUD3.55 billion this year.

He unveiled a new campaign – Thailand CONNECT The World, designed to deliver more than one million visitors by showcasing the country’s top business events cities, integrating regional destinations and emphasising the industry’s professionalism and signature Thai service.

Khun Nopparat also announced a “meetings bonus” program to subsidise groups of 100 or more up to AUD3333, groups of 300 would receive AUD10,000 and up to AUD33,000 for 1000 plus delegates.

Major events this year in Thailand include One Young World Summit 2015 Bangkok, FDI 2015 Annual World Dental Congress, TBEX Asia 2015, HerbaLife Asia-Pacific Extravaganza 2015, INTERMACH 2015, PROPAK 2015 and Food & Hotel Thailand 2015.
